Next on the Reading List

Updated: Jan 14, 2020

With a baby almost here, I need to be realistic with how much I'm going to be reading this year.

With now less than a month away from our baby arriving, I'm starting to feel the nerves of becoming a mom. Now it's crunch time, and whether I feel ready or not, this baby is coming soon.

When the baby arrives, I don't expect to have a lot of time on my hands to read much. This is OKAY. But I do hope that when I can steal a moment away to myself, I'll be able to read at least a few books this year (other than picture books!). Andrew and I also want to instill the importance of reading in our children, and what better way than to read to them, and for them to see how much enjoyment we get out of a book?

With all this said, this is what I have up next on the reading list:

  1. Natural Baby Care by Colleen K. Dodt -- Gotta get ready for this baby! I picked up this book from my local bookstore, the Book Nook, because I'm curious about ways to help my baby grow in a more pure, natural home. No, I don't think I can cure sickness with herbs and crystals, but I have found great ideas on how to clean the home in a less toxic manner, so I look forward to looking at this book more thoroughly in the time before the baby arrives.

  2. Hood, Lady of Sherwood by M.E. Lotz -- I'm actually in the middle of this novel right now, this being my second time reading it through. With an amazing cast of characters, and a twist on an old legend, it's been a fun read so far.

  3. How to Read a Book by Mortimer J. Adler and Charles Van Doren -- This book was one of the books Andrew purchased for himself, but it looks interesting enough for me to want to give it a try. It's objective is to help readers comprehend more of what they're reading, and it provides a reading list at the end of the book.

  4. The Children's Book by A.S. Byatt -- I read Byatt's Possession and it is still one of my favorite novels I've read yet. I look forward to seeing what else she is capable of in this book.

There's my super short reading list! I hope it inspires you to compose a to-read list, and I'm always looking for book recommendations!
